The flagship of the western concession, under near-constant elephant traffic through its albida canopy. Because the camp lies on private ground outside the national park proper, it can legally run night drives and boat outings that are prohibited inside, which changes what a stay here looks like.

The pocket-sized sister to Ruckomechi on the same private concession, sharing its guiding and its freedom to run night drives. With four tents it is effectively a private villa in camp form, and it books accordingly.

Chikwenya sits where the Sapi River meets the Zambezi, reachable only by light aircraft. Note for anyone using older guidebooks: it is now operated by Wilderness, not Great Plains, a change many listings have missed.

Not inside the national park but in the Sapi Private Reserve next door, which shares the floodplain ecosystem and the World Heritage listing. Rules differ outside the park boundary, so Tembo Plains can offer boating and other activities the park prohibits.

The heart of self-drive Mana and the only communal campsite in the park. Sites are sold whole and prepaid through ZimParks Central Reservations, never at the gate, and the riverfront row goes first. Bring every supply you need; firewood is sold at reception and nothing else is.

The two big ZimParks lodges are the best-value roofs in the park and the first accommodation to sell out, often close to a year ahead. They are honest rather than fancy: a local source calls them tired and overdue for refurbishment, but the position on the river is worth more than the paintwork.

Three smaller self-catering lodges on the same riverbank as the 8-sleepers. For two couples sharing, $155 a night for the unit undercuts every private camp in the park by an order of magnitude. Book through Central Reservations well ahead.

The most overtly luxurious camp inside the park, and the one to book if you want Mana's wildness with none of its austerity. Despite the marketing gloss, its season follows the park's reality: it operates April to November, not year-round.

The family wing of the Nyamatusi operation. Most Mana camps hold a 16+ or 12+ line because of the walking-focused activities; Mahogany is the deliberate exception, configured for families without diluting the location.

Deliberately old-school: a mobile-style tented camp rebuilt on a fresh riverside site each season, with the mess and bar facing the water. It carries the highest published traveller rating of any Mana camp on the specialist agent we checked, and it costs meaningfully less than the fixed luxury camps.

A seasonal camp in the classic mould: walk-in tents, reading lights, flush loos, bush dining under the trees, and the emphasis firmly on foot safaris. The eastern floodplain it sits on sees far less traffic than the central stretch.

Tents go up at the start of each season and come down at the end, and in between the owner walks you through the park himself. Wi-Fi runs two hours a day and charging happens in the dining tent, which tells you exactly what kind of camp this is. That is the appeal.

The inland counterpoint to the river camps: park yourself at Kanga Pan and let the dry season do the work. The classic itinerary pairs three nights here with three on the Zambezi, which covers both of Mana's personalities in one trip.

Elevated rooms and a main deck above a pumped waterhole, with a short walk down to a hide that photographers rave about. Because Kavinga sits on a private concession outside the park boundary it can run night drives, and its own airstrip gives it the fastest medevac access in the area.

The most intense camping in Zimbabwe. There are no facilities of any kind, every drop of water comes in with you, and the predator activity around the spring is the reason people pay up to $355 for a patch of dust at Chitake 1 and 3B, the two sites closest to the spring (Chitake 2 and Baobab are $235). Most visitors bring a professional guide, and the Chitake code of conduct expects you to explore on foot, not by car.

Mana Pools has 21 places to stay, 16 of them inside the park. The cheapest night is a public campsite at Nyamepi, $120 per site for up to six people and two vehicles, and the highest published rate is $1,340 per person sharing at Tembo Plains Camp. Note the two different units. Most of the exclusive camps publish no rate at all, so that ceiling is the visible one rather than the real one. Every camp is listed below.
Mana Pools has one of the strongest owner-guided traditions in Africa. Bushlife Safaris, which runs Vundu and Little Vundu, also funds and operates an anti-poaching support unit working alongside ZimParks and The Zambezi Society, and Camp Mana and Kavinga are Zimbabwean owner-run camps where the person guiding you built the place. Look for Owner-run in the line under each name if that matters to you.

Very few Mana Pools camps publish rates, so treat all dollar figures as indicative and confirm with the lodge. ZimParks accommodation is priced per site or unit, not per person, from the February 2026 tariff.
